The result of the International Cricket Council's teleconference today on the question of where scheduled World Cup matches in Zimbabwe and Kenya will be played is that the matches will not be moved.
Somewhat surprisingly, Malcolm Speed, the chief executive of the ICC, said that there had been no formal request to move matches from Zimbabwe, so there was no cause to make a decision. However, the concerns of England, Australia and Holland had been noted. New Zealand's match in Nairobi will not be moved. According to the ICC it was felt "there was not sufficient reasons to move the game."
The ICC were reacting to the latest report by security consultants Kroll who were behind the State Department in Washington advising US citizens not to travel to Zimbabwe. The World Cup organising committee has also been involved, as have members of the diplomatic corps.
