The ECB National Acadmey's batsmen completely dominated their one-day match against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla, winning by five wickets with more than eight overs in hand as they chased the home side's total of 240 all out.
Robert Key of Kent set the tone with 46 at the top of the order before Leicestershire's Darren Stevens took up the assault on the target with 64 and a rapid contribution of 47 not out from only 32 balls from Surrey's Rikki Clarke took the English side home.
Not for the first time on the tour, Worcestershire off-spinner Gareth Batty stood out among the bowlers with three for 39, while Test off-spinner Richard Dawson of Yorkshire also did well in taking two for 39.
The two spinners needed to do something after the Sri Lankan second-wicket partnership between Michael Vandoort (118) and Prasanna Jayawardene (50) had put on 148 in 29 overs.
